Tutor FAQs

How does this work?

  1. You sign up and create your tutor profile
  2. Customer searches and makes a request to schedule you
  3. We will call/text you to confirm your availability and meeting location. We need to get back to the customer quickly, so make sure you can be reached fast at the phone/email that you provided
  4. You meet the client and deliver services, at the agreed upon location and time
  5. Parent/student pays you directly
  6. You inform us of the progress and of any issue with the client

How does the tutor get paid?

The parent/student pays you directly, after you deliver the services.

Does ClarityEd Market charge the tutor any commission or fee for the listing, marketing, customer service, technology and logistics services it is providing?

No, it is 100% free.

Do you withhold any taxes from the payment?

The parent/student pays you directly. You are solely responsible for all your taxes, state, federal and others.

How is the tutor’s experience in years calculated?

The metric that we use is years since undergraduate degree.

How long does it take to get tutoring clients?

It depends on various factors, like time of the year, geographic area, local competition, market demand and supply curves, your qualifications, etc

What is a student doesn’t pay after the services are provided?

Like in any business, there is some degree of non-payment risk. While most students are honest and pay, there are some that don’t. It is best for you to stop providing services and continuously remind them of the balance due. Resume services only after they pay the balance.

How can I sign up to be a tutor?

You can do that at tutor sign up

Should I travel?

That is your decision, and you should decide based on your constraints. Please note that the more towns you can cover or travel to, the more tutoring clients you can get.
